Veil of Illusion

For understanding the sayings of Shankara (aka Adi Shankaracharya) one needs reaching level of Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed. Simply stated only when one reaches the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) the cosmic crux of life becomes clear... never otherwise! Standing on second floor of empire estate building we cannot view whole of New York!

It is beyond comprehension of normal human beings to understand the workings of cosmic system. The entire cosmic system is beyond the purview of our senses and the mind. Only when one becomes an enlightened one after establishing absolute control over the five senses and the mind... the entire picture of the Cosmos becomes absolutely clear!

our soul atman the spirit within present Cosmos consists of many universes. In Advaita Vedanta Adi Shankaracharya termed the whole Cosmos as a work of Maya (veil of illusion)! Why? Broken down to the basic elements of the Cosmos... the whole Cosmos consists of only atoms and molecules. Every solid matter is in fact a cluster of gaseous matter... nothing more!

Perceived from the cosmic point of view... every human being is a cluster of atoms and molecules. Only when viewed from the senses point of view things appear solid. Furthermore, the present Cosmos does not seem to have a boundary. If it does have... then what beyond! The prime reason why the present Cosmos (Jagat) has been termed as imaginary... mithya!

Ever since God Almighty (a cluster of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos) exploded self with a big bang... the whole Cosmos is still expanding. We are getting farther and farther away from distant stars and planets. This proves that the boundary of the Cosmos is not fixed... rather the Cosmos does not seem to have boundary... and the whole Cosmos is nothing but an illusion!
